This year we decided to support Ronald McDonald House here in Auckland to try to raise enough funds to pay for an outdoor sunken Basketball Court. Our initial aim was to raise $30,000 as a contribution towards this project. In the event, our 13 candidates raised a total of $40,000 in cash and received a donation of material to the value of $25,000 making a total of $65,000 which is more than double our initial target.

Kristy Toy, our Beauty With a Purpose Winner raised $16,000 on her own by holding a charity Auction in her home town of Tauranga.

Rehearsals were held weekly from Early February right through until just before the pageant during which time the candidates learned to live and love with each other, learn media skills, catwalk skills and all the other skills required to make a Miss World NZ Winner.

Our National Costumes this year were in the shape of New Zealand Birds, again designed and made by students of the Sewtec Fashion Academy. Sadly this will be the last year of our mutual arrangement with Sewtec and we thank them for their help and expertise.

The MWNZ 2016 Pageant Final was held on Saturday June 4 at the Sky City Convention Centre in front of a fully paid live audience of 680. The Pageant, managed and choreographed by Miss Hannah Carson was a spectacular success and produced a unanimously agreed winner in the person of Miss Karla de Beer, who will represent New Zealand in December in Washington DC.

Our Beauty With a Purpose project was enthusiastically received by Ms Julia Morley, CEO of Miss World and is already being exhibited on the MWO web site www.missworld.com.

We wish to thank all this selfless people who gave freely of their time, free of charge. Without them we could not make this Pageant fly.

Lastly we thank all our sponsors whose logo’s appear on this site and we encourage anyone who reads this notice to make use of their skills or products.
